Tweet Curation

For these next five weeks of tweeting, I was able to take what I learned from the first lot of tweets, in order to plan informative and relevant tweets each week.

Week 6-Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

The biggest thing I learned from the first lot of tweets was to prepare during the week before the screening. This not only helped me reach the tweet limit each week, but it also gave me insight into what themes and relevant future-related technology was being covered in each movie. For example, Blade Runner 2049’s setting was based on a polluted future, judging on how the world will look if things keep going the way they are.

Week 7-The Matrix (1999)

For The Matrix, I was able to draw comparisons between it and Ghost in the Shell, as certain elements of The Matrix was inspired by the latter. I was also able to tweet information about certain scenes at the same time the class was seeing them, including screenshots for evidence, which I think helped engage with the class and the BCM325 hashtag.

Week 9-Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

This week, I was engaged in a few discussions and made some tweets about the state of cyborgs in the movie, encouraged by the lecture topic for the week, which was on cyborgs. I also noted another movie with the theme of a polluted society.

Week 10-Ready Player One (2018)

This week I did research prior on how the film inspired VR. I also addressed yet another movie featuring pollution, which I noticed is a reoccurring theme in sci-fi.

Week 11-Robot & Frank (2012)

For the final screening, I engaged in discussions about the role of robots in the film vs real life. There was a lot of reflection on whether robot assistants would be beneficial to the future, or whether they will be used to neglect humans in need of assistance.

Overall, I think I learned to plan my tweets beforehand and engage in specific themes relating to each movie, rather than just the things happening within the film.
